PLANT VARIETY PROTECTION

Plant variety protection provides legal protection for cultivated plant varieties.

Any new plant variety that is clearly distinguishable, uniform, stable, and novel is eligible for protection.

The holder of the protection enjoys exclusive rights to use the variety and is also entitled to grant third parties permission to use it.

The protection lasts for 30 years for vines and trees, and 25 years for other plant varieties.
