UTILITY MODEL PROTECTION

Utility model protection can be granted for the design, structure, or arrangement of parts of an object if it is new, involves an inventive step, and is industrially applicable.

Like patents, it serves to protect technical solutions. This form of protection is primarily intended for simpler, less complex technical solutions that may not meet the stricter requirements for patenting.

In Hungary, utility model protection is regulated by Act XXXVIII of 1991 on the Protection of Utility Models.

The protection lasts for 10 years from the date of filing.
